Higher Education and Nonprofit Executive Leadership
Marc A. Newman is a Development Professional with over 20 years of fundraising experience. He is an experienced manager with an emphasis on the development, maintenance and implementation of new initiatives. Most notably, he is a proven leader with a successful record that includes grant writing, fundraising, fiscal management, governmental relations, board development, special events planning and staff supervision.
Mr. Newman is currently the Vice President of Advancement, Research and Economic Development at Grambling State University in Grambling, Louisiana. In this capacity he is responsible for fundraising and economic development activities at the University. Previously he spent nine plus years as the Vice President of Institutional Advancement and Development at Saint Augustine’s University in Raleigh, North Carolina. He also served two separate stints with the United Negro College Fund (UNCF) serving as the Area Development Director for the UNCF Illinois/Wisconsin campaign and most recently as the Regional Development Director of the United Negro College Fund (UNCF) North Carolina and Virginia campaigns where he was responsible for a market with seven UNCF member institutions.
Mr. Newman received his Bachelor’s Degree from Chicago State University and his Master’s in Business Administration from the University of Phoenix. He is currently pursuing his Doctorate in Higher Education Administration at Grambling State University. Mr. Newman has also completed several educational enrichment programs including the Harvard University Institute for Educational Management, Institute for Institutional Advancement Vice Presidents at Vanderbilt University’s Peabody College and Kellogg School of Nonprofit Management and the United States Army Educators Retreat. Additionally, Mr. Newman completed Leadership North Carolina, and was selected to participate in the United States Senate’s annual leadership summit.
His affiliations include the Association of Fundraising Professionals, 100 Black Men of America, Blacks in Development and Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. Mr. Newman has also serves on the Board for the Lincoln Parish Chamber of Commerce. Lincoln Parish CVB and HBCUgrow.
Personally Mr. Newman enjoys golfing, coaching youth sports and working on home improvement projects. Marc Newman and his wife, Marjorie, of 20 years, are the parents of three children; Talia, Marc and Miles.
