Terrence SouthernTerrence Southern is a nationally recognized leader in the field of Robotic & Automation Engineering. After earning his Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from Tennessee State University (Nashville, TN) in 2003, he started his career at General Motors as a Robotics Project Manager. Throughout Southern’s 15 year career, he was worked for multiple Fortune 100 companies influencing the innovation and future of robotics.

He is currently working for GE Global Research as a Robotics & Automation Engineer and is owner and Chief Consultant of InventEx where he his primary responsibility is advising, mentoring and managing entities in providing educational strategic planning, project management and research solutions. While this and his other corporate positions have been a source of great productivity and professional growth, Terrence’s heart has remained close to children living in communities where there is restricted access to science, technology, engineering and mathematics. His own humble beginnings have fueled his passion to shed light on the possibilities of careers in the sciences for underprivileged children. From the heartbeat of this desire, Southern created iLLUMINATE S.T.E.M. to advance future workforce opportunities for K-12 students in related areas of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math through interactive curriculum and competitive learning concepts.

Terrence Southern is a proud native of Detroit, MI and an even prouder father to daughter Zorah, age 2. He currently resides in Dallas, TX.
